From Col. John Van Nortwick: Bill was my XO when we went out and became CO when I rotated
home. He brought the squadron home and stayed on as CO for awhile. Not sure how long. He also was CO of 462 in Okinawa and MARTD
Glenview before he retired as full bird. He went on to fly many years with Mesaba Airlines in Minnesota until he was unvoluntarily
retired because of age. So he moved back to Hawaii where he has been flying tourist helos since then. He is a little younger than
I am, only about 69 or 70. He is a great Marine and aviator. |
